NGV
CNG and LNG offer substantial benefits for truck fleets, particularly in terms of cost savings, lower emissions and improved energy security. Q8Truck currently has more than 100 sites offering NGV across our network, and this number is continuously increasing.
CNG & LNG: Natural gas solutions for trucks
CNG and LNG are both natural gas for vehicles (NGV). CNG, or compressed natural gas, is stored under high pressure between 200 and 250 bar and is the gaseous form of natural gas. LNG, or liquefied natural gas, is the liquid form, created by cooling natural gas to -163 °C.
CNG
CNG is primarily used for regional and urban distribution trucks, utilities, buses and municipal vehicles such as garbage trucks. Because it offers a lower driving range of up to around 570 km, it is especially suited for short- to mid-range transport.
With the Q8Truck fuel card, CNG is currently only available in France.
LNG
The European Union actively supports the use of LNG for heavy road transportation, and the market for LNG-powered trucks continues to grow. Q8Truck already offers an established network of LNG stations in several European countries, and we are planning further expansion of LNG fuelling locations within our network.
Q8Truck also supports renewable natural gas alternatives:
CBG is compressed biomethane, a cleaner alternative to CNG, suitable for lighter-duty regional fleets.
LBG is renewable biomethane cooled to -160 °C, offering a higher energy density ideal for long-haul transport.
LBG50 combines renewable LBG with fossil LNG, providing a flexible solution for fleets seeking a balance between extended reach and sustainability.
